Do We Need A Health Supplement

Do we really need a health supplement today. Is it applicable to all of us in every form of social life. Whether we need a health supplement today or not is a personal choice or can be a recommendation of medical professional.

Those who live in a healthy environment and follow natural way of life may not necessarily need any external food supplement like Spirulina. There are a number of suburbs which are still safe from modern polluted lifestyle and unhealthy environment. People in such societies enjoy a slow but peaceful life and this solves a number of problems in modern lifestyle including poor diet.

This blog isn't meant to market any product or company, it is just a way to express views on a useful creation of nature which can solve nutrition problem of modern society to some extent.

Modern societies that exist in cities are actually not eating what they ought to eat, most eatable are preferred for there taste only and nobody cares about there nutritive value or whether its something that is suitable for our body or not. Such societies and people following such lifestyle do need some supplement to keep there body healthy.

Loose Weight with Spirulina

Spirulina is known to help in weight control. It helps in keeping weight under control. It doesn't mean that it will immediately start showing results but it will help over time. Why spirulina is helpful in controlling weight, how can this natural algae keep weight under check. There are so many theories supporting benefits of spirulina which can help us to understand this:

1. Modern Diet is Not Able to Provide Enough Nutrition to Our Body
Today our diet is not able to provide enough nutrition to our body, or we can say that our body remains hungry even after we have had enough food. One reason is the junk food.

Spirulina provides nutrition that our body needs and longs for and therefore it naturally helps in controlling our appetite for junk food and thus helping in controlling weight.

2. Nutritional Value of Spirulina
Spirulina is itself low in calories and therefore controls fat accumulation in body. It is also known as Superfood as it can provide a number of useful nutrients that our body needs. You can read more in Evidence Supporting Spirulina and functional food and dietary supplements.

3. Acid Alkaline Health Theory
Today the world is acidic and all major causes of health problems are related to acidity. Our eating habits are not balancing our diet on a pH scale. Our diets are not balanced and therefore are health is disturbed which can result in a number of health problems including weight gain.

Spirulina is an alkaline food and therefore restores the pH balance in our body and therefore controls and reduces these health related problems. Read more in Acid Alkaline pH Balance in Spirulina.

Spirulina Reduces Brain Damage

Can Spirulina Reduce Brain Damage

Spirulina is said to be helpful in reducing brain damage from strokes. This is what I have read in a spirulina blog. This was not just an statement on Spirulina but there were also details regarding the research report. You can read it at Spirulina blog.

This is not all there are also reports on how Spirulina can be helpful for a cancer patient but I don't want to cross the limit of a dietary supplement to professional medical advice. Then there are other benefits of Spirulina listed some where else regarding types of body deformities. I'll like to write about them in this Spirulina Blog in future.

Spirulina Is Not A Magic Pill

Some people who learn about Spirulina think it to be a magic pill. They think it to be a medicine which will reflect its effects quickly. May be some people may and do notice such fast relief from a Dietary Supplement but it is not normal and should not be normally expected from any health supplement.

Health Supplement (or dietary supplements) means they provide some additional nutrients to our body which is otherwise missing (or isn't enough in our diet) from our day to day food. This addition of nutrient does help in long term as body is able to maintain its activities when requirement of such nutrients is full-filled over a period of time.

A Dietary Supplement Is Not A Medicine

A dietary supplement is not a medicine which is prescribed by recognized medical professional to cure our body system based on some symptoms which are not believed to be normal in a healthy body. A dietary supplement on the other hand is not a cure but a precautionary measure to avoid malfunctioning of body and thus illness.

Realistic Expectations Yield Results

So, don't expect unrealistically that Spirulina is a quick-heal natural supplement which can work faster then a medicine, it will not because its not a medicine, a cure specifically designed for some symptoms. Spirulina is a naturally available dietary supplement which works at its own pace with our body system over a period of time.

Why do we need food supplements today?

Today we find a number of food supplements in the market. They are in the market because people are actually consuming one or more brands of food supplements in there homes everyday.

We have become a bit conscious or worried about our health in modern times. This is something that has never happened in the human history ever. We are enjoying a number options in food and health supplements today then it was available even 10 years back.

Why do we need these health supplements now?
Actually time has changed, so have are eating habits. Today most of the food that we take in everyday diet is not able to meet our bodies requirements (or may it is what we think). Today our diet consists of recipes which are good in taste, most of the times we skip meals and take other alternative ways to feed our stomach. We don't care about what it is and what it is not, only thing that we care is taste and killing our hunger.

All the food or recipes that taste good may not be equally good for our health or body system. It is often processed in such a manner that it looses all its natural goodness at the end when it reaches our stomach. So, we are eating but our body system is still hungry.

Is food Supplement a permanent solution?
I don't think so. May be food supplements are good in adding some nutritious elements in our day to day diet but they can never replace a good meal. Spirulina is a food supplement but it can be never compared to a healthy live diet. Man is not a machine which can be fed on a button cell (spirulina capsule) for life.

We can look at our lifestyle to find whether we need a food supplement or health supplement on a regular basis. Are we able to enjoy our diets regularly everyday. What is our day to day schedule, there are some occupations and jobs which do not permit taking diets regularly like people who are continuously on move.

Spirulina is also known as superfood but it must be supported by a regular diet, there are many other traditional health supplements like ganoderma, a medicinal mushroom which can also be used by those who have a nasty lifestyle and are therefore vulnerable to health problems.

If we can give a little time to enjoy our meals regularly, then I don't think we need a food supplement on regular basis, it is not a bad idea to consult a health professional.
